PAMELA ZIMMERMAN

1953-2022

-

Pamela Jane (Burk) Zimmerman, aged 68, left this life peacefully, on March 19th, 2022 at her home in Humble, TX. Pam was born in Fort Worth, TX, on November 11th, 1953 to her father James Burk (1930 - 2010) and mother Peggy Burk (1935 2019). The beloved eldest sister to Karen Williams, Robin Young, and Kevin Burk.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, John Zimmerman, son Christopher Pavliska, daughter Melissa Barrett and husband, Matthew, step-daughter Jessica Zimmerman, step-son Wesley Zimmerman, grandchildren Avery and Austin Barrett, and step-grandchildren Braden and Brecken Zimmerman.

Pam graduated from Chandler High School in Chandler, AZ, in 1971. In 1975 she moved to Houston, TX. Then, in 1981, she started what would be a life-long career with Exxon. When she first began working at Exxon, she was part of the secretarial pool at the Baytown Refinery. After many years of hard work and dedication, which she was known for, she moved up the ranks to an IT Specialist, which was her final position before retiring in 2019. Over the span of her career at ExxonMobil she was assigned to the Exxon Valdez Response Team and sent to South America and Europe to train teams on the implementation of the SAP software.

In her free time, she enjoyed participating in outdoor activities, working out, being a ‘Nonnie’ to her grandchildren, playing games, and furthering her knowledge. One of her biggest regrets was not being able to attend college after high school. Even though she worked full time and had 2 young kids to raise, she was determined to fulfill her dream of becoming a college graduate. She made that dream come true on May 21, 2011 when she graduated from the College of Business with a Computer Information Systems Degree. Her recognitions included: induction into Phi Theta Kappa Society, Beta Gamma Sigma, Outstanding CIS Graduate UH-Downtown and Stafford Outstanding CIS Graduate.

Pam will always be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, nonnie and a true friend to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed and we are better people for having her touch our lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held for friends & family from 1-4 pm Friday, April 22, 2022, at Taste of Texas, 10505 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77024. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Pam’s name to Family Time Crisis & Counseling Center.
