Astros (10-9) update: With his team having won three of four at Texas, Dusty Baker is within three victories of 2,000 for his 25-year managerial career. He would be the 12th man to reach the plateau. …After a slow start, Kyle Tucker is 9-for-22 (.409) in his last six games with two home runs and nine RBIs. In that span, he has raised his batting average from .087 to .191. … Lefthanded reliever Blake Taylor has been scored on in only one of nine appearance­s this year. A perfect eighth inning Thursday lowered his ERA to 1.35, with opponents hitting .138 (4-for-29) against him.

Blue Jays (13-7) update: After taking two of three games from the Astros at Minute Maid Park last weekend, Toronto took three of four from Boston at home. With the American League’s second-best record, the Jays are a half-game behind the Yankees in the East. … Alejandro Kirk, who drove in the lone run in Toronto’s 1-0 win Thursday, has gone 41 consecutiv­e at-bats without a strikeout, the longest active streak in the majors. The catcher has 13 hits, eight walks and only four strikeouts in 17 games. … George Springer, who homered in his first career game played against the Astros last week, reached 200 career dingers this week. He hit 174 of those with the Astros. … Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (.309/.380/.559) missed his first game of the season Thursday with a sore right foot.
