FRED COUPLES
The 62-year-old from Newport Beach, Calif., is playing at Insperity for the first time since 2017. He won this tournament in 2010 by seven shots, one of his 13 titles on PGA Tour Champions. He played collegiately at Houston. He was the 1992 Masters champion with top-three finishes in each of the other three majors and a two-time winner of the Players Championship.
DAVID DUVAL
He's playing at Insperity for the first time and seeking his initial win on PGA Tour Champions. Duval, 50, out of Cherry Hills Village, Colo., won 13 times on the PGA Tour; his final victory was at the 2001 Open Championship. He is a two-time member of the U.S. Ryder Cup team. He posted second place-finishes at the Masters (1998, 2001) and U.S. Open (2009). He was the 1998 Houston Open winner at this venue.
STEVE STRICKER
Stricker, 55, from Madison, Wis., is making his first start of the season after being sidelined by illness. He was the captain of the victorious U.S. squad at the 2021 Ryder Cup. He represented the U.S. three times as a player at the Ryder Cup. He has won seven times on this tour after winning 12 times on the regular tour. He is also a two-time PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year.
JOHN DALY
His victory at the 2017 Insperity was his first PGA Tour-affiliated event since 2004. He shared second place here a year ago. The 56-year-old from Dardanelle, Ark., was the winner of the 1991 PGA Championship and 1995 Open Championship. In 1997, he became the first PGA Tour player to average more than 300 yards per drive over a full season.
BERNHARD LANGER
He went wire-to-wire in the 2022 Chubb Classic to break his record as the oldest winner in PGA Tour Champions history. He is a four-time winner of Insperity with seven top-10 finishes. The 64-year-old from Boca Raton, Fla., is fourth on the Charles Schwab Cup money list this season. Worldwide, he has won 119 times, including 43 (second to Hale Irwin’s 45) on the senior circuit.
PADRAIG HARRINGTON
The 50-year-old from Dublin, Ireland, is a member of a strong rookie class. He is making his fifth start of the season and is looking for his first victory on the senior tour. He is a six-time Ryder Cup European team member and won back-to-back Open Championships in 2007 and ’08. He added the 2008 PGA Championship to his haul of majors.
MIKE WEIR
The defending tournament champion won by two shots for his first win on the senior circuit. Weir, 51, from Sandy, Utah, is coming off his best finish of the 2022 season, sharing 15th at the ClubCorp Classic last week in Irving. He is 12th on the tour in sand-save percentage (60.8 percentage). His first-place finish in the 2003 Masters makes him the only Canadian man to win a major.
SCOTT PAREL
He moved up to fifth in the Charles Schwab Cup rankings following last week’s inaugural ClubCorp Classic three-man playoff victory, his fourth win on tour. Parel, 56, out of Augusta, Ga., is second on the tour in driving distance (295.3 yards) this season. In six events in 2022, he has three top-10 finishes. He attended Georgia but did not play college golf.
