JOY ANNINE SALERNI

Joy Annine Salerni was born in Long Beach, California to Ted and Annine Lawson. She transition­ed to the next part of her eternal journey on May 8, 2022. She was 83 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Vincent Salerni, her mother, Annine (Lawson) Stevens, and her brother, Freddie Lawson.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherry and her husband, Val Kadura, and Nina and her husband, Rick Dodgen. Her granddaugh­ter, Christal and her husband, Maurice Fox, and two great grandchild­ren, Vinny and Marley Fox. Her two grandsons, Brandon Dodgen and his wife Samantha, and Hunter Dodgen and his partner, Matthew Luetzen. She is also survived by her father who is 102 years old, Tom Phillips and his wife Kathy.

Joy attended Long Beach State College and later became a teacher. She taught typing and other business classes at the high school level. She then became a mother and a stay-at-home mom. She moved to Kingwood with her family in 1978. She was very involved with her children’s activities, such as Girl Scouts. She was a leader for many years, and regularly took a gaggle of girls off into the woods to camp. She loved genealogy and spent many many hours researchin­g her and others’ lineage. She loved the beach and traveled to Panama City Beach with her family for years, then to Galveston for the last few years.

Joy was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great grandmothe­r, daughter and sister and will be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral arrangemen­ts were taken care of by Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble.
