ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: BAYLEIGH MINOR, FRESHMAN, FORT BEND CHRISTIAN
Minor was named the TAPPS Class 5A athlete of the meet after winning five gold medals and leading the Eagles to the team title. The freshman won the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, long jump and triple jump and ran the anchor leg of the winning 4x400 relay team.
COACH OF THE YEAR: KRISTI ROBBINS, ST. AGNES
Robbins guided St. Agnes to the TAPPS Class 6A state championship. The Tigers scored the most points of any Houston-area team, collecting 145.5. They beat the field by 53.5 points.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR: CHARLOTTE FREEMAN, FRESHMAN, LEGACY PREP
Freeman claimed two gold medals at the TAPPS Class 4A championships, winning the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. She also took silver in the 400-meter dash, helping the Lions finish as the runners-up in the team standings.
