‘Days of Our Lives’ Moves to Streaming Peacock
Joining the ranks of series like Evil, SEAL Team, Thursday Night Football and Dancing With the Stars, long-running daytime drama Days of Our Lives is leaving broadcast television and will be streaming its new episodes exclusively on Peacock’s premium service weekdays starting today. This is certainly a bigger and more historic development than those other moves, considering the daily nature of DOOL’s episodes and especially the fact that the iconic soap has been a familiar staple for fans at its NBC home for nearly 60 years, since Nov. 8, 1965. The new episodes join a library of previous DOOL installments already available to stream for Peacock Premium subscribers. As part of the reasoning for this programming shift, Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal television and streaming, explains that “a large percentage of Days of Our Lives’ audience (is) already watching digitally.” In NBC time slots previously occupied by Days, the hourlong news program NBC News Daily will debut on network affiliates.
