Judge hits 2 HRs; Dodgers win West

BOSTON — Aaron Judge hit his major league-leading 56th and 57th home runs, Gleyber Torres had a go-ahead three-run double in the 10th inning and the New York Yankees held on to beat the Boston Red Sox 7-6 on Tuesday night.

Judge, playing in New York’s 142nd game, is four from tying the American League home run record Roger Maris set with the Yankees in 1961.

Dodgers 4, Diamondbac­ks 0: Clayton Kershaw pitched seven dominant innings as Los Angeles won the NL West for the ninth time in 10 seasons.

Guardians 3, Angels 1: Mike Trout’s streak of consecutiv­e games hitting a home run ended at seven, one shy of the major league record, as host Cleveland beat Los Angeles. Trout went 0-for-3 chasing the mark of eight straight, set by Dale Long in 1956 and matched by Don Mattingly in 1987 and Ken Griffey Jr. in 1993.

Twins 6, Royals 3: Minnesota rookie Joe Ryan and reliever Jovani Moran combined to pitch no-hit ball until Bobby Witt Jr. doubled with one out in the ninth inning as the host Twins beat Kansas City.

Blue Jays, Rays split: Pinch-hitter Whit Merrifield drove in two runs with a seventh-inning double as Toronto beat visiting Tampa Bay 7-2 to gain a doublehead­er split. In the opener, Tampa Bay’s Jeffrey Springs pitched six shutout innings as the Rays won 4-2 to snap a three-game losing streak.

Orioles 4, Nationals 3: Ryan Mountcastl­e hit a tying homer and Baltimore won at Washington.

Brewers 8, Cardinals 4: Andrew McCutchen homered and drove in three and Milwaukee used eight pitchers in a victory at St. Louis.

Braves 5, Giants 1: Kyle Wright earned his majorleagu­e leading 18th win, Dansby Swanson homered and drove in three runs, and Atlanta won at San Francisco.

Cubs 4, Mets 1: Jacob deGrom was outpitched by journeyman Adrian Sampson in New York’s home loss.

Phillies 2, Marlins 1: Nick Maton hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning off Sandy Alcantara, leading Philadelph­ia to a victory at Miami.

Padres 2, Mariners 0: Yu Darvish limited Seattle to two hits over eight innings in San Diego’s road win.

Rangers 8, A’s 7: Mark Mathias hit his second homer of the game, a solo shot with one out in the ninth, as host Texas rallied from a five-run deficit.

White Sox 4, Rockies 2: Eloy Jimenez hit a threerun homer in Chicago’s home win.

Pirates sweep Reds: Four pitchers combined on a one-hitter that led visiting Pittsburgh over Cincinnati 1-0 for a day-night doublehead­er sweep. Bryan Reynolds homered as Pittsburgh won the opener 6-1.
