Judge hits No. 60 in 5-run rally in 9th

NEW YORK — Aaron Judge hit his 60th home run and Giancarlo Stanton followed minutes later with a game-ending grand slam, completing the New York Yankees' stunning five-run, ninth-inning rally to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-8 on Tuesday night.

Judge moved within one of Roger Maris' American League record when he turned on a sinker from righthande­r Wil Crowe (5-10) and drove it 430 feet into the left-field bleachers, pulling New York within 8-5.

Stanton, mired in a 9-for-72 slump, lined a slam off Crowe to set off a raucous celebratio­n.

Mets 7, Brewers 5: Francisco Lindor hit a two-out grand slam in the seventh inning as New York rallied from a four-run deficit to win at Milwaukee.

Padres 5, Cardinals 0: Kim Ha-seong homered and Mike Clevinger had a strong outing for host San Diego, which shut down Albert Pujols while clinching its first winning record in a full season since 2010.

Dodgers, Diamondbac­ks split: Rookie Miguel Vargas drove in the go-ahead run with an infield single in a five-run eighth inning in Los Angeles’ 6-5 victory, its MLB-leading 44th comeback win, in the first game of a doublehead­er. In the nightcap, Drew Jameson threw six strong innings as Arizona won 5-2.

Blue Jays 18, Phillies 11: Matt Chapman hit a threerun homer in the first inning, Jackie Bradley Jr. added a three-run shot in the ninth for visiting Toronto.

Braves 3, Nationals 2: Travis d’Arnaud broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer in the fourth inning in Atlanta’s home win.

Guardians 10, White Sox 7: Steven Kwan had four hits, including an RBI single in the 11th inning, as Cleveland won at Chicago.

A’s 4, Mariners 1: JP Sears and four relievers combined on a one-hitter as Oakland beat visiting Seattle.

Angels 5, Rangers 2: Taylor Ward hit a tiebreakin­g RBI double during a three-run sixth inning that ended with a triple play as Los Angeles won at Texas.

Tigers 3, Orioles 2: Joey Wentz took a shutout into the sixth inning as Detroit won at Baltimore.

Royals 5, Twins 4: Salvador Perez drove in the go-ahead run as Kansas City beat visiting Minnesota.

Giants 6, Rockies 3: Austin Slater doubled twice, and David Villar homered in San Francisco’s road win.

Red Sox 5, Reds 3: J.D. Martinez and Rob Refsnyder hit solo homers, and Rafael Devers had a two-run shot as Boston won at Cincinnati.

Cubs 2, Marlins 1: David Bote drove in the tying and go-ahead runs to lift Chicago to victory at Miami.
