SATURDAY’S STATE COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES TO WATCH

TEXAS TECH (4-4, 2-3) AT NO. 7 TCU (8-0, 5-0)

When/where: 11 a.m., Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth.

TV: Fox.

Tech update: Texas Tech has options at quarterbac­k, but not much went right against Baylor as the Red Raiders played Behren Morton, Donovan Smith and Tyler Shough, each throwing at least one of the team’s five intercepti­ons. Lineman Tyree Wilson has 11½ tackles for loss and 6½ sacks. SaRodorick Thompson and Tahj Brooks have combined for 955 yards rushing. Of Tech’s seven games against FBS opponents, five were ranked at the time they played the Red Raiders.

TCU update: In pursuit of their first 9-0 start since 2010, the seventh-ranked Horned Frogs have struggled at times but have remained unbeaten. TCU’s five Big 12 wins have come against teams they lost to by at least two scores last season. Kendre Miller has run for 851 yards and 11 touchdowns, and Max Duggan has thrown for 2,212 yards and 22 TDs. TCU’s streak of three consecutiv­e sellouts is its longest since seven straight games over the 2014 and 2015 seasons. BAYLOR (5-3, 3-2) AT OKLAHOMA (5-3, 2-3) When/where: 2 p.m., Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, Norman, Okla. Baylor update: The Bears are coming off an impressive 45-17 victory at Texas Tech, running the ball 59 times for 231 yards with Richard Reese netting 148 yards and three touchdowns. Reese is second among NCAA freshmen in rushing yards (791) and rushing touchdowns (12). The Bears’ defense forced five turnovers to keep their Big 12 title aspiration­s alive. Baylor is seeking its second win in Norman and first in eight years.

OU update: The Sooners go for their third straight victory after they got three takeaways in knocking off Iowa State 27-13 for their first conference road win. Eric Gray got 101 of OU’s 182 rushing yards, and Michael Turk averaged 49.3 yards on six punts. Oklahoma leads the series 28-4 and is 14-1 against the Bears at home. Dating to the start of the 2010 season, OU has played only seven regular-season games when unranked, winning six.

HCU (2-6, 1-3) AT UIW (8-1, 3-1)

When/where: 2 p.m., Benson Stadium, San Antonio.

Houston Christian update: Vernon Harrell caught six balls for 155 yards and two touchdowns, one for 88 yards, in the Huskies’ 52-28 nonconfere­nce loss to Tennessee-Martin. Karl Reynolds’ 29 catches have gone for 421 yards and five scores. Linebacker Rodney Dansby leads the Southland and is second in the FCS with 11.9 tackles per game. Both of HCU’s wins have come away from home.

Incarnate Word update: Saturday is homecoming for UIW, which is 6-0 against HCU. Last week the Cardinals handed Texas A&M-Commerce its first Southland loss, beating the Lions 35-7 to take over second place in the league. Kelechi Anyalebech­i picked up a season-high 15 tackles and added an intercepti­on. Lindsey Scott Jr. has thrown for 3,090 yards and 38 touchdowns with only four intercepti­ons.

UTSA (6-2, 4-0) AT UAB (4-4, 2-3)

When/where: 2:30 p.m., Protective Stadium, Birmingham, Ala.

TV: Stadium.

UTSA update: Conference USA leader UTSA has won five in a row and is bowl eligible a third straight year. Reigning C-USA Player of the Year Frank Harris has thrown for 2,538 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Roadrunner­s are 0-2 in Birmingham against UAB and are playing at Protective Stadium, which

opened in 2021, for the first time. UTSA, which is seeking a second straight 5-0 start in C-USA, is 16-3 in conference games under third-year coach Jeff Traylor.

UAB update: Baylor transfer Jacob Zeno made his first start as Blazers quarterbac­k in last week’s 24-17 defeat at FAU that eliminated UAB from C-USA title-game contention. With his 168-yard effort at FAU,

DeWayne McBride eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the eighth straight game. McBride needs 46 yards to become the second UAB player to reach 3,000 career rushing yards. While winless on the road, UAB is 4-0 at home, outscoring opponents 169-55.

FIU (4-4, 2-2) AT UNT (5-4, 4-1)

When/where: 3 p.m., Apogee Stadium, Denton. Florida Internatio­nal update: The Panthers look for a third straight win as they come off a 42-34 double-overtime decision over Louisiana Tech in which FIU’s special teams recovered a kickoff, blocked a field-goal attempt and connected on a game-tying 28-yard field goal with 16 seconds left in regulation. Sophomore Grayson James has passed for more than 300 yards in each of the past two games.

North Texas update: The Mean Green need just one win over their final three games to be bowl eligible. Win out, and second-place UNT will lock up a berth in the C-USA championsh­ip game. For his play in a 40-13 win at Western Kentucky, DB Logan Wilson became the third UNT player this season named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week.

S.E. LOUISIANA (5-3, 2-1) AT LAMAR (1-7, 1-3)

When/where: 3 p.m., Provost Umphrey Stadium, Beaumont.

SLU update: Linebacker Donte’ Daniels and punter Austin Dunlap were selected Southland Conference Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week, respective­ly, after playing key roles in the Lions’ 28-27 win last week at McNeese.

Lamar update: Lamar snapped a 16-game losing streak last Saturday, defeating Nicholls 24-17. Tyler Jackson leads the Cardinals with 73 tackles, including 7½ for loss. Lamar has lost its past four games to SLU and trails in the series 12-4.

TEXAS STATE (3-5, 1-3) AT ULM (2-6, 1-3)

When/where: 4 p.m., Malone Stadium, Monroe, La.

Texas State update: The Bobcats have lost their previous two games — both by six points or fewer — and have not won since beating App State 36-24 on Oct. 8. Texas State, which is coming off an open week, has won the past two meetings with ULM. Louisiana-Monroe update: The Warhawks, who are 2-1 at home, also are coming off an open date. ULM played its last game Oct. 22, a 48-24 nonconfere­nce loss to Army. In their four Sun Belt games, the Warhawks have lost by seven points or fewer three times. JACKSON STATE (8-0, 5-0) AT TSU (4-4, 3-2) When/where: 6 p.m., PNC Stadium.

JSU update: Off to its best start in program history, unbeaten and reigning SWAC champion Jackson State is coached by Deion Sanders, whose son Shedeur leads the conference’s top-ranked offense with 2,425 yards passing and 24 touchdowns. After hosting ESPN’s College GameDay last week, JSU dominated Southern 35-0.

TSU update: TSU is playing its best football of the season, winning its past three games after a 1-4 start. Andrew Body has accounted for 1,646 yards — 1,294 passing and 352 rushing. The Tigers lead the SWAC with 10 intercepti­ons.
