CHARLES BRUCE DONALDSON
04/14/1939 - 01/31/2023
Charles “Bruce” Donaldson passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 with his wife, of sixty-two years, Susan Donaldson by his side. He was a caring, loving, and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Bruce was born on April 14, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, to Ruth Thompson Donaldson and Dr. Ralph MacFarland Donaldson. He graduated from Abington High School in Abington, PA where he played varsity baseball and basketball. Bruce then attended Dartmouth College playing on the baseball team. Bruce returned to family in Philadelphia to finish his studies at Drexel University. While in Philadelphia, Bruce met and then eventually married Susan Ann Norman in 1960.
After graduating from Drexel University with a BS in Chemical Engineering, Bruce had a very successful career that took him and his family to New England, the Midwest and eventually to their home for the last forty years in Kingwood, Texas and then Humble, Texas (after Hurricane Harvey). During that time, he and his wife Sue raised three boys who all married and had children of their own. Bruce was a proud grandparent of seven grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
What he loved most was golfing and grandkids along with the Houston Texans, NFL football and Texas A&M baseball.
Bruce is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Susan Donaldson; sons Michael and wife Julie of Houston, Texas, David and wife Margaret of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Ben and wife Tracy of Houston, Texas; and their grandchildren, Parker, Andrew, Katherine, Matthew, Abbye, Samantha, and Miranda; and their greatgrandchildren Sabrina and Natalie. He is also survived by his brother David and wife Sandy, brother- in-law Frank Norman and wife Joy and sister-in-law Jenny Norman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. & Mrs. Ralph M Donaldson.
The family would like to thank the incredible team at Fall Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, who compassionately cared for him during these last six months.
A private family memorial service will be held later this year.
In honor of Bruce’s memory and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
