Gamecocks cruise to win in battle of the unbeaten

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Kamilla Cardoso had 18 points and 13 rebounds, Zia Cooke scored 17 and No. 1 South Carolina beat third-ranked LSU 88-64 on Sunday in a showdown of the last two unbeaten teams.

Aliyah Boston finished with 14 points and nine boards to help South Carolina (25-0, 12-0 SEC) win its 31st straight game.

Billed as a showcase between reigning AP player of the year Boston and Angel Reese, the game quickly become a highlight reel of South Carolina’s experience, talent and depth.

HOUSTON 71

NO. 24 SOUTH FLORIDA 69

Laila Blair hit six 3pointers and scored a career-high 30 points to help the Cougars end a number of winning streaks for the Bulls in Tampa, Fla.

South Florida, which had won 12 straight, was 12-0 at home and was trying to go 12-0 in American Athletic Conference play for the first time.

MISSISSIPP­I STATE 70, TEXAS A&M 62

Jessika Carter and Anastasia Hayes scored 17 points apiece and the host Bulldogs handed the Aggies their fourth straight defeat.

Sydney Bowles led Texas A&M (6-16, 1-11 SEC) with 16 points and Sahara Jones added 11.

NO. 5 IOWA 111, RUTGERS 57

Molly Davis scored a season-high 17 points, Caitlin Clark added 15 points and 10 assists, and the Hawkeyes handily defeated the Scarlet Knights at Iowa City, Iowa.

Clark, who came into the game second in the nation in scoring and assists, picked up her 13th double-double of the season in just 21 minutes.

Agnes Emma-Nnopu had 17 points and Cameron Brink had 15 points and eight rebounds despite playing only 12 minutes to help the Cardinal to a lopsided road win.

NO. 7 UTAH 73 WASHINGTON STATE 59

Alissa Pili scored 15 points and Gianna Kneepkens had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Utes past the Cougars at home.

NO. 8 MARYLAND 82 ILLINOIS 71

Diamond Miller scored 31 points, and the Terrapins rallied from an 11point first-half deficit to beat the Illini at home.

NO. 9 DUKE 50, MIAMI 40

Reigan Richardson scored a season-high 14 points and the Blue Devils turned in another strong defensive performanc­e to beat the Hurricanes at home.

NO. 10 NOTRE DAME 73, SYRACUSE 64

Kylee Watson scored 15 points as the Fighting Irish held off the upsetminde­d Orange at home.

Maddy Westbeld added 14 points while Olivia Miles had 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for Notre Dame (20-4, 11-3 ACC).

NORTHWESTE­RN 64 NO. 1 PURDUE 58

Boo Buie scored 26 points, Chase Audige added 15 and the Wildcats upset the Boilermake­rs in Evanston, Ill.

Northweste­rn (18-7, 9-5 Big Ten) added a signature win to its bid for the school's second NCAA Tournament appearance. The Wildcats got their first win in 19 games against the No. 1 team in the AP poll.

WICHITA STATE 91 SMU 89 (2OT)

Kenny Pohto totaled 28 points, Craig Porter Jr. scored 22 and Jaykwon Walton added 20 as the Shockers rallied to beat the Mustangs at home.

Pohto sank 13 of 15 shots from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds for Wichita State. Porter hit 9 of 13 shots, adding six assists, four boards and three blocks.
