Bosscat Kitchen & Libations in The Woodlands

- By Greg Morago STAFF WRITER greg.morago@chron.com

The Daily Dose Hospitality Group’s footprint on the Houston area has grown with the opening of the new Bosscat Kitchen & Libations in The Woodlands.

The restaurant, 9595 Six Pines, is the second local Bosscat after the River Oaks original. Additionally, Daily Dose opened Ten Sushi + Cocktail Bar in November (at the time, the founders indicated they also plan to revive their BCK brand with a new location in either The Woodlands or Katy).

Here’s what you need to know about Bosscat in The Woodlands:

The concept

Described as an “upscale comfort food” restaurant, Bosscat is known for its whiskey heavy menu and industrial chic design with its clubby whiskey rooms.

The space

The 5,000-square-foot restaurant with a 800square-foot covered patio looking out onto Market Street, sports a design of exposed brick, tufted banquettes, whiskey barrel décor and dark woods, with a whiskey library section set with masculine leather chairs and plush velvet-covered seating.

The food

The lunch and dinner menu offers dishes such as Nashville hot chicken and cheese dip; pork belly poutine; pulled pork hush puppies; ahi tuna wraps; sandwiches (including house Bosscat burger and mushroom and quinoa burger); Cajun brick chicken; Gulf shrimp and grits; braised short rib; chicken sausage pasta; and barbecue salmon. Brunch offerings include short rib chilaquiles, country fried steak, pulled pork Benedict and Fruity Pebbles French toast.

The drinks

They’re known for a huge whiskey inventory, including top bottles from producers in Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, Japan and Ireland. Wine and beer, too, as well as signature cocktails such as the Bosscat (Kentucky bourbon, citrus, bitters, and rosemary), the Bosslady (Wild Turkey bourbon, citrus, seasonal berries and flowers) and Ken

tucky Orange Blossom (Buffalo Trace bourbon, orange, elderflower and bitters).

The word

"Bosscat is a natural fit with The Woodlands community,” said Leslie Nguyen, who co-founded the brand with John Reed. “Our lively dining experience matches perfectly with the high-energy patrons at Market Street, and we’re excited to be joining this great area.”

One more thing

Weekday happy hour offers deals on cocktails, wine and bites such as pork tacos, a burger, and ahi tuna wraps.
