Chesapeake sells part of shale assets for $1.4 billion
INEOS Energy has agreed to acquire a portion of Chesapeake Energy’s oil and gas assets in South Texas’ Eagle Ford shale for $1.4 billion. The deal, expected to close in the second quarter, is London-based INEOS Energy’s entry as an operator in the U.S. onshore oil and gas market.
The transaction includes 2,300 wells producing a net 36,000 barrels of oil equivalent daily, as well as production and exploration leases across 172,000 net acres.
INEOS Energy is actively producing and trading oil, gas, power and carbon credits, as well as investing in liquefied natural gas, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage.
KBR partners on sustainable aviation fuel
KBR has launched sustainable aviation fuel technology in alliance with Swedish Biofuels AB, a technology developer. The alliance extends KBR’s decarbonization and energy transition portfolio into the aviation sector with a differentiated SAF offering.
In addition to processing ethanol, this technology can also convert carbon dioxide and synthesis gas to SAF. Validation of the technology was performed in conjunction with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Six startups join accelerator program on clean energy
Greentown Labs and Browning the Green Space announced six startup participants for the Advancing Climatetech and Clean Energy Leaders Program, an accelerator intended to bolster BIPOC-led startups as they develop critical climatetech solutions by offering access to funding, networking connections, resources and opportunities that structural inequities put out of reach.
Included in the cohort were Houston’s DrinKicks, a sneaker-themed consumer products company focused on repurposing food waste and recycled materials into sustainable goods such as shoes, sports equipment and clothing, and frakktal, a B2B materials company developing bio-based polymer processes for the replacement of fossil fuel-based feedstocks across industries.
Browning is based in Massachusetts. Greentown has incubators in Somerville, Massachusetts and Houston.
