Blair, defense lead Cougars to a berth in AAC semis

Laila Blair scored 12 points with eight assists and the defense limited SMU to single digits in scoring in three of the four quarters as Houston won its third game in a row and continued its run at the American Athletic Conference Tournament with a 52-33 win over the Mustangs.

Tatyana Hill added 8 points and 13 rebounds for the Cougars, who will take on Wichita State in the semifinals on Wednesday. The Shockers upset No. 1 seed South Florida on Tuesday.

Maisie Burnham scored 19 points and Alex Fowler had 15 points and 11 rebounds as the Pilots beat the two-time defending West Coast Conference Tournament champion Bulldogs to secure their berth in the NCAA Tournament.
