Scott James “Grumpy” McNamara, of Rosenberg, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 1st surrounded by his girls. Keeping true to his unique personality, he was diagnosed with an extremely rare prion disease on February 28th (also known as Rare Disease Day). While he may have appeared grumpy on the outside, to those who knew him well, he was a big-hearted man who could always be counted on for an ear to listen, shoulder to lean on, a story to entertain you or a meal to fill your belly. Scott was only 68 years young.

He was born on August 14, 1954 to James & Anita-McNamara in New York, NY, who both predeceased him. Scott is survived by Laurie, his two daughters, Jennifer (Spanky) McNamara and Claire (Rusty) McNamara, two granddaughters Emma and Avery, his brother Edmund (Rose) McNamara, and his sisters Beth Cramp and Ruth McNamara, many nieces and nephews, and his constant companion for 8 years, Tess.

He loved to travel and never met a stranger. He could talk to anyone about anything! Scott made a career as a Petroleum Landman in the Oil & Gas industry initially as an Independent Landman, finally succumbing to the pressures and taking a “real job” at the age of 40. He spent many of those years at North Central, Preston Exploration, Newfield, Cabot Oil & Gas, Edge Petroleum and eventually retired from Anadarko Petroleum in 2012. He served as Chairman of the WHAPL Annual Skeet Shoot for many years and hosted many crawfish boils.

After retiring, he and Laurie split their time between Texas and Michigan. He spent his free time cooking, golfing, hunting, shooting, traveling, enjoying time with his family and friends. . To say Scott loved food and entertaining is an understatement. Known to his Granddaughter as Grumpy, Scott loved to share this passion with friends and family, which included teaching his Granddaughters his way of doing things in the kitchen.

Per his wishes a celebration of life in lieu of a formal service will be held on April 15th. Contact the family for information. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Creutzfeldt
