Gregory Todd York, 74, was born on July 1st, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Theron Dale and Vaughn Todd York. He died March 9, 2023, in Sugar Land, Texas. He grew-up in Wichita Falls, Texas, Bellaire, Texas, and Bartlesvil­le, Oklahoma. He was a 1966 graduate of College High School in Bartlesvil­le, Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Oklahoma City University in 1970. While attending OCU, he was the team manager for the Chiefs basketball team, coached by his great-uncle, Abe Lemons. Mr. York did postgradua­te studies at the University of Oklahoma. He married LuAnn Marshall on June 23rd, 1979, in Checotah, Oklahoma.

He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in Houston, Texas and Phillips Petroleum Company EuropeAfri­ca in London, England, ending his career as Director, Land and Negotiatio­ns for the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. York retired from ConocoPhil­lips after twenty-nine years of service. After his retirement he worked as a land consultant for Tammany Oil and Gas LLC.

Mr. York was a member of the First Presbyteri­an Church of Sugar Land, Texas where he had served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Taste of Sugar Land. He was a member of the American Associatio­n of Petroleum Landmen and Houston Associatio­n of Petroleum Landmen. He was a member of the AAPL Deepwater Operating Agreement Committee which wrote the initial AAPL approved Deepwater Joint Operating Agreement. He also served as chairman of the American Petroleum Institute, Outer

Continenta­l Shelf Exploratio­n Committee of 2000 through 2003.

He was predecease­d by his parents, his grandparen­ts, Charles Granville and Mattie Lemons Todd and James Harley and Myrtle Wood York, his uncle, Dr. Woody Neil York, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee and Lila McKee Marshall, his sister-in-law, Cindy Marshall Death and Brother-in-law, James Lee Death.

He is survived by his wife, LuAnn Marshall York of Sugar Land, Texas, sons, John Marshall York of Sugar Land, Texas and James Todd York of Missouri City, Texas, nieces Julia Death Burns and Cynthia Death Machowski, nephews, Jeffrey Scott Burns and Michael Anthony Machowski, great-nieces and nephews, Jack Scott Burns, Cindy Lee Machowski, Lila Jane Burns and Davis James Machowski, cousins Kathleen York Mooney, Kelly York Shiver, and Woody Todd York, dear friend, Juanita Ybarra, as well as extended family and many friends.

The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at First Presbyteri­an Church 502 Eldridge Rd, Sugar Land, TX 77478.
