Olivari, Rice get past Duquesne

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Quincy Olivari had 19 points in Rice’s 84-78 victory against Duquesne on Sunday in the first round of the CBI Tournament.

Olivari added seven rebounds for the Owls (19-15). Travis Evee scored 17 points while shooting 5 for 13 (2 for 8 from 3-point range). Max Fiedler had 16 points and shot 8 of 9 from the field.

The Dukes (20-13) were led in scoring by Dae Dae Grant, who finished with 28 points, including six 3-pointers. Jimmy Clark III added 13 points and four assists for Duquesne.

Moore outlasts Spieth, Schenk

Taylor Moore delivered the clutch shots to move into contention, closed with a 4-under 67 and won the Valspar Championsh­ip at Palm Harbor, Fla. on Sunday when he avoided the mistakes that cost Jordan Spieth and Adam Schenk.

In only his second year on the PGA Tour, the 29-year-old who grew up outside Oklahoma City is now headed to the Masters next month.

Els denies Langer: Ernie Els rallied from a five-shot deficit and closed with a 6-under 65 to win the Hoag Classic and deny Bernhard Langer a chance at setting the career victory mark on the PGA Tour Champions at Newport Beach, Calif.

Langer has 45 career wins on the over-50 tour, tied for the most with Hale Irwin.

Lee tops at Tucson:

Danny Lee birdied his final two holes for a 2under 69 and then won LIV Golf Tucson on the second hole of a fourman playoff by making a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th green for his first win in nearly eight years.

Shiffrin breaks another record

Mikaela Shiffrin won her 21st career giant slalom at the World Cup Finals in Soldeu, Andorra, as the American standout ended the season with yet another record.

The victory moved Shiffrin past Vreni Schneider after matching the Swiss skier’s mark of 20 World Cup GS victories last week.

TENNIS Rybakina takes Indian Wells title

Elena Rybakina defeated Aryna Sabalenka 7-6 (11), 6-4 to win the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, Calif., and hand the world’s No. 2 player her second loss this year.

In the men’s final, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 6-2 to regain the world's No. 1 ranking.
