Cowboys’ offensive line still dealing with injuries

-

FRISCO — The Cowboys began their practice week ahead of the Patriots matchup with four offensive linemen on the injury report.

Only guard/tackle Chuma Edoga practiced, and he was limited with an elbow injury.

Center Tyler Biadasz (hamstring), tackle Tyron Smith (knee) and guard Zack Martin (ankle) missed Wednesday’s practice. Those three also missed the Week 3 contest against Arizona. Tyron Smith was active for the game but wasn’t expected to play. Smith said he felt better and is continuing to rehab.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys signed center Billy Price to the practice squad, raising some questions about whether Biadasz can return for the Pats game on Sunday.

With the health issues along the line, coach Mike McCarthy declined to answer whether Tyler Smith would practice at two positions. Smith was drafted as a guard to eventually play tackle. In his rookie season, Smith played left tackle when Tyron Smith suffered a hamstring tear just before training camp.

With Tyron Smith healthy, Tyler Smith has played left guard. But with Tyron Smith hurt, it could push the Cowboys to ask Tyler Smith to play tackle again and quite possibly have Edoga play guard.

Panthers’ Young on track to play

Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young is trending toward playing on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings barring any setbacks, according to coach Frank Reich.

Young was a full participant at practice on Wednesday.

The No. 1 overall pick missed last Sunday’s game against the Seahawks with an ankle injury.

Watson limited by sore shoulder

Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is dealing with a sore right throwing shoulder but is expected to play Sunday when Cleveland hosts the Baltimore Ravens.

Watson, who is coming off his best game since signing with the Browns, didn’t throw during the portion of practice open to reporters on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old stood behind rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson during drills and did mental reps.
