Defense scores twice in Cowboys’ rout

ARLINGTON — DaRon Bland returned one of his two intercepti­ons for a touchdown, Leighton Vander Esch scooped up a fumble for a score and the Dallas Cowboys beat the New England Patriots 38-3 on Sunday.

Mac Jones was responsibl­e for all three turnovers and was pulled in the second half after the Patriots faced their biggest halftime deficit (28-3) under Bill Belichick.

The Cowboys (3-1) spoiled former star running back Ezekiel Elliott’s Dallas homecoming with their 10th consecutiv­e home victory.

EAGLES 34 COMMANDERS 31 (OT)

Jalen Hurts threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns, and Josh Elliott kicked a 54-yard field goal in overtime to lift Philadelph­ia to a win over Washington for its second straight 4-0 start.

Elliott also kicked field goals of 41, 47 and 36 yards before booming the winner that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

BILLS 48, DOLPHINS 20

Josh Allen threw four touchdown passes and ran for a score, and host Buffalo brought Miami’s unbeaten start to an emphatic end.

A week after the Dolphins (3-1) had one of the most impressive offensive performanc­es in NFL history in a 70-20 win over Denver, the Bills (3-1) showed them a thing or two about efficient offense.

CHIEFS 23, JETS 20

Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City shook off a subpar performanc­e during which they blew a 17-point lead, but held on to win at New York (1-3).

Mahomes was intercepte­d twice and struggled to get much going after a quick start with pop superstar Taylor Swift watching Travis Kelce and the Chiefs (3-1) for the second straight game.

JAGUARS 23, FALCONS 7

Calvin Ridley caught a touchdown pass against his old team, and Darious Williams returned an intercepti­on for a 61-yard score and Jacksonvil­le (2-2) beat Atlanta (2-2) at Wembley Stadium in London.

TITANS 27, BENGALS 3

Ryan Tannehill threw for 240 yards and a TD and host Tennessee (2-2) rebounded from the franchise’s worst offensive performanc­e in 49 years by routing Cincinnati (1-3).

VIKINGS 21, PANTHERS 13

Kirk Cousins threw two touchdown passes to Justin Jefferson and D.J. Wonnum returned Bryce Young’s fumble 51 yards for a momentum-changing touchdown, and Minnesota (1-3) held on to beat host Carolina (0-4) for its first win of the season.

RAVENS 28, BROWNS 3

Lamar Jackson ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more against the league’s topranked defense, leading Baltimore (3-1) over host Clevland (2-2), which played without injured QB Deshaun Watson.

BRONCOS 31, BEARS 28

Russell Wilson threw for three touchdowns, Wil Lutz kicked a tiebreakin­g field goal with just under two minutes remaining and Denver (1-3) bounced back from one of the most lopsided losses in franchise history.

RAMS 29, COLTS 23 (OT)

Matthew Stafford overcame a hip injury that left him limping at times during the game to throw a 22-yard touchdown pass to record-breaking rookie Puka Nacua in overtime to give Los Angeles (2-2) a road victory over Indianapol­is (2-2).

BUCCANEERS 26, SAINTS 9

Baker Mayfield threw three TD passes for Tampa Bay (3-1), and Derek Carr’s surprise return from a shoulder injury did little to help host New Orleans’ anemic offense.

CHARGERS 24, RAIDERS 17

Khalil Mack set a franchise single-game record with six sacks, Justin Herbert accounted for three touchdowns and host Los Angeles (2-2) held on to beat Las Vegas (1-3).

49ERS 35, CARDINALS 16

Christian McCaffrey scored a career-high four touchdowns, and host San Francisco (4-0) won its 14th straight regular-season game.
