Joseph William (Bill) Pickett went to be with our Lord on September 6, 2023, peacefully in his home in Richmond, Texas.

Bill was born in Victoria, Texas on July 27, 1939 to Richard Clifford and Lydia Marcak Pickett. He was a graduate of Patty Welder High School and Victoria Junior College where he excelled in tennis.

He married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Horvath Pickett on August 5, 1960 and enjoyed 48 years of marriage until her passing in 2018. They moved to Houston, where he embarked on a banking career and later a career in furniture sales prior to retiring. Upon retirement, he was a beloved Marshall at Pecan Grove Country Club for many years where he made dozens of friends and acquaintan­ces.

He is survived by his children Patrick William Pickett and wife Dorothy Lee of Johnson City, Texas, John Richard Pickett and wife Lori Ellen of Richmond, Texas, Jill Pickett Roe and husband Mark of Richmond, Texas and Julie Ann Pickett of Richmond, Texas.

In addition, he is survived by his adoring grandchild­ren Whitney Nicole Rachui and husband Darrell, Tyler William Roe and wife Kristyn, Britnee Sarah Gilmer and husband Chris, Priscilla Jean Hendrickso­n and husband Cole, and Trevor Allen Roe. He is also survived by great-grandchild­ren Brooks William Hendrickso­n, Colton James Gilmer, Levi Wayne Rachui, Gracie Mae Hendrickso­n, and Whitten William Roe.

He is survived by his sister Shirley Prause and husband Ben of Cuero, Texas, brother Kenneth Pickett and wife Linda of Dallas, Texas and sister Sandy Winfield and husband Jay of Conroe, Texas. He was preceded in death by brother Richard Clifford Pickett and brother Rev. Carroll Pickett.

A beloved father, pawpaw, and friend he will be sorely missed by loved ones and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at Faith Methodist Church on October 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M., followed by a gathering of friends and family at the church.
