Twila Gottschalk Rogers, aged 86, a cherished mother, grandmothe­r, sister, and friend, died peacefully on October 11, 2023. Twila was born on September 29, 1937, to Marcus and Armella Gottschalk in Coffeyvill­e, KS. After graduating from Field McKinley High School in 1955, Twila earned an associate degree in Nutrition from Coffeyvill­e Community College in 1957.

On June 1, 1957, Twila married Harold Rogers, going on to have four sons: Timothy, Kenneth, John, and Paul. Twila lived for her four boys and was a devoted and supportive mother. She had loving relationsh­ips with her parents throughout their lives and had close ties to her many siblings. She cherished her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren and was delighted to see them grow and thrive.

Deeply rooted in her Roman Catholic faith, Twila was active in the church as a lector, Eucharisti­c Minister, and bible school teacher. She loved her many years in the Bible Study Fellowship and the friendship­s she found there.

After establishi­ng her sons in school, Twila worked as an executive and legal secretary. She was an active member of CPS, the Certified Profession­al Secretary Associatio­n. Upon retirement, she embarked on a new career as an appraisal judge for the Harris County Appraisal District.

Twila embraced life and loved dancing, hiking, and travel. She made it a point to tour each of the 50 states and was a seasoned internatio­nal traveler, having visited over 30 countries. She enjoyed employing her sharp mind at Bridge and was an active docent at many Houston theaters.

Twila was a warm and engaging person with a delightful sense of humor. She enjoyed regaling her family and friends with her keen observatio­ns and unique perspectiv­e. An early environmen­talist and cat lover, Twila made her mark on the world in large and small ways and will be deeply missed.

Twila is survived by her four sons, Timothy (Diana), Kenneth, John (Lisa), and Paul (Robert), and her grandchild­ren, Lauren Wallace, Eric Rogers, Daniel Rogers, and Mason Rogers, as well as four great-grandchild­ren. She is also survived by her sisters Shirley Bartley, Millie Gilbert, Patti Miller, Marilyn Keys, Debbra Gottschalk, and Linda Gottschalk, and her brothers Bill Gottschalk and Tom Gottschalk. Twila was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Armella Gottschalk, and by her brothers, Leroy Gottschalk, Gary Gottschalk, Jim Gottschalk, and her partner, Charles Moore.

Visitation will be held at Pat H Foley & Co. from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 21. Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. at Pat H. Foley & Co. Funeral service will be held at St Ambrose Catholic Church with Mass at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, followed by a reception at Pat H. Foley & Company. Internment will be private.
