The winner will have sole possession of second and could end up tied for first if Cinco Ranch can upset Katy. In just their second season playing varsity football, the Warriors have surpassed their 5-5 record from last year. Sophomore Tanner West scored two touchdowns in last week’s win, as did sophomore Jeremy AloPerry, whose main duty is linebacker. Katy quarterback Gunner Nelson has been efficient, completing 72%t of his passes for 960 yards and 13 touchdowns against just two interceptions. The ground game has continued to be a strength for Katy, which is averaging 231.6 rushing yards per game and 6.5 yards per carry. Cinco Ranch is coming off one of its top defensive performances of the season, shutting out Paetow over the final three quarters of a 17-7 victory last week. The Shadow Creek defense has been one of the best in the area this season, allowing 9.4 points per game. Junior cornerback Cobey Sellers, a four-star recruit, has stepped in at quarterback and passed for 373 yards and eight touchdowns without an interception in two games. For Dawson, Bryce Burgess has been the offensive catalyst, rushing for 763 yards and 12 touchdowns. –

Cy Springs has the best point differential in the district, outscoring their seven opponents by 132 points. The Panthers have been balanced on offense, rushing for 1,171 yards and passing for 1,106. Quarterback Harrison Mass has accounted for 1,342 yards and has 18 total touchdowns against five interceptions. Junior defensive tackle Ryan Lynch has been the anchor for the defense, collecting 20 tackles for loss and 10½ sacks.

The Klein Collins defense has allowed just 28 points in district play, averaging seven per outing. Klein Cain is in a three-way tie for second with Tomball and Tomball Memorial. District 8-5A Division I 7 p.m. at Turner Stadium Barbers Hill is averaging 45.8 points, thanks in large part to senior quarterback Kody Fuentes. He has completed 73.8% of his passes for 1,768 yards and 25 touchdowns against just three interceptions.
Kingwood Park has been stout on defense this season, allowing 16.1 points per game.
