Texas women earn their first win against UConn

AUSTIN — Rori Harmon scored points 27 and had 13 assists, and No. 10 Texas earned the program’s first ever win over No. 11 UConn 80-68 on Sunday, sending the struggling Huskies to their third loss of the early season.

Freshman Madison Booker added 20 points and four assists for Texas (9-0) which had been 0-10 against Connecticu­t (4-3). Sunday was the eighth time in the series both teams had been ranked in the top 15.

Aaliyah Edwards led UConn with 22 points. Huskies star Paige Bueckers scored 13 points but only five came in the first half while blanketed defensivel­y by Harmon. She was 4-of-11 shooting and did not score in the second quarter.

NO. 13 BAYLOR 71 OREGON 51

Darianna Littlepage­Buggs scored 18 points, Aijha Blackwell had a double-double and the Bears beat the Ducks in Waco.

Dre'una Edwards added 14 points for Baylor (7-0), which was held under 80 points for the first time this season.

HOUSTON 79 FLORIDA A&M 59

Peyton McFarland scored a season-high 21 points off the bench, and Laila Blair added 15 as the Cougars raced past the Rattlers at Fertitta Center.

Houston (5-1) dominated on the boards, outrebound­ing Florida A&M 51-30 in bouncing back from its first loss.

TEXAS A&M 63, KANSAS 52

Janiah Barker led the Aggies with a game-high 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Enyia Rogers shot 3-of-4 from 3 for 17 points in a victory over the Jayhawks in College Station.

Texas A&M (7-1) won for the fifth straight time and improved to 4-0 at home.

Kamilla Cardoso had 15 points and 14 rebounds, her fifth double-double of the season, to help the Gamecocks beat the Blue Devils in Durham, N.C.

Lauren Betts scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures for the bruising Bruins, who outrebound­ed the Razorbacks 56-26 in a win in Fayettevil­le, Ark.

Brynna Maxwell scored a season-high 27 points, Yvonne Ejim added 25 points and 12 rebounds, and the Bulldogs handed the previously unbeaten Cardinal their worst loss in nearly four years in Spokane, Wash.

Aziaha James scored 16 points and River Baldwin had 10 of her 14 points in the first nine minutes as the Wolfpack kept their undefeated season rolling by beating the Redbirds in Raleigh, N.C.

Juju Watkins poured in 30 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists in a rout by the Trojans at home.

Baylor Scheierman scored 20 of his 24 points in the first half as the Bluejays built a 15-point halftime lead on their way to a win over the rival Cornhusker­s in Lincoln, Neb.

Creighton (7-1) trailed only twice, the last time with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

Tai’Reon Joseph scored 27 points and blocked the Bulldogs’ final shot as the Jaguars closed on a 12-0 run for a stunning win in Starkville, Miss.
