Shut down the border

-

Regarding “In Texas, Biden and Trump gloss over border reality (Opinion),” (Feb. 29): To call our southern border problems “self-inflicted” is insulting. Joe Biden created our border problems. And our Texas governor has the cojones to stare him down and attempt to shut it down. I have lived in Texas most of my life and have witnessed managed crossings until Biden took office. I have said this before, the board should get off their comfy tushes and go to the border to witness the “manufactured” crisis, interview the people impacted by the policies of the Biden administration. The president refuses to protect our border through executive action. Don’t you wonder what his end game is?

It’s depressing to see our illegal immigration problem used cynically by our political leaders. They know that we collectively aren’t going to penalize them for espousing or funding stupidity. It makes for great short-term success among the populace that supports them, and garners little chance for longterm consequence to their careers.

Middle-class America lives well off of underpaid labor and cheap goods and services. Without an ability to access poor, desperate people at substandard wages right here at home, and a whole bunch of Asian imports often produced by slave-like labor, there would be much less economic activity here in America.

So, yes, shut down the border. Each of us stop abusing or taking advantage of desperate people. Just get back in shape, learn some basic life, carpentry, plumbing and transportation skills, and expect to work as hard at home as you do on the job. Start looking for that second job while you have the time.
