Nell Stauch Gitschner, 76, of Houston, Texas, passed away on April 9, 2024, after a battle with cancer. Known for her infectious smile and warmth, she was cherished by family and friends. Born in Houston (1947), Nell grew up enjoying roller skating, ice skating and spending time outdoors. During her teenage years, her family lived briefly in Annapolis, Md., where she discovered her passion for sailing. In college, while volunteeri­ng at a Houston hospital, she met Dr. Douglas Stauch, whom she later married. They later moved to New York City where she attended the renowned New York School for Design. They then moved to England before settling in Bryan, Texas, where they welcomed twin daughters, Laura and Caroline. After her marriage concluded, Nell returned to Houston and found success in real estate. She met Fritz Gitschner at a church luncheon, and they married in 2005. Together, they embarked on a 25-year adventure, creating “Nelly’s Caramelize­d Pecans” and living in Tulsa, Okla., and Philadelph­ia, Pa. They eventually returned to Houston to enjoy their retirement. Nell deeply cherished her family, especially her grandchild­ren, and was known for her exceptiona­l cooking and baking skills. Her warm and welcoming nature, along with her passion for life enriched those around her. Nell is survived by her husband, Fritz; daughters, Caroline Olson and Laura Stauch; stepson, Stefan Gitschner; stepdaught­er, Selange Gitschner; and grandchild­ren, Blake Weeks, Caitlin Olson, and Fia Elidi Strong. Services will be held at the Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home at the Chapel of Angels on April 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial services at 3:00 p.m.
