Berg Hospitality taking over two spots downtown
Berg Hospitality Group is putting its stamp on downtown with the opening of a second B.B. Lemon and the takeover of Real Agave at 1100 Louisiana.
B.B. Lemon moved into the mall tunnel space of El Real, below the 55-story office building where Real Agave is situated on the ground level. Both spaces were previously overseen by restaurateur Bill Floyd. Berg Hospitality signed a restaurant management agreement April 3 with building owner Hines to bring in new dining options.
“It’s an honor to be entrusted with these two venues,” owner Benjamin Berg said in a statement. “With Bill Floyd’s extensive experience managing 32 Houston restaurants, he has set a standard of excellence in the industry. We aim to honor his vision and do him proud downtown.”
B.B. Lemon opened its first location on the Washington Corridor in 2017. Expect the
same yellow-green branding at the 2,360-square-foot downtown space, which will cater to office workers with a new breakfast menu (7-10:30 a.m.) featuring tacos, a croissant sandwich and pancakes. It also serves a culled down lunch
menu.
Real Agave, a tequila lounge serving Mexican cuisine, will keep its look and hand-painted Día de Los Muertos murals. However, Berg Hospitality executive chef Brian Sutton has completely changed the menu, with
lunch and dinner dishes such as a braised beef birria sandwich, braised ox cheek and shrimp tacos.
“Our partnership with Ben and his team will deliver an elevated food experience for our tenants,” said Mark Janssen, director
of property management at Hines, in a statement. “With the Berg team’s expertise, these incredible amenities will reach new heights, and we are thrilled for the arrival of the B.B. Lemon concept, complete with a fresh menu offering.”
