Hand motion and timing are critical when throwing darts. Improving either one can lay the groundwork for greater accuracy, according to physiologists at Japan’s Osaka University. Their research, in which they used seven cameras to film professional darts players in action, revealed two successful approaches: either using the same release timing for each throw or using specific hand motions to compensate for variable timing. The study’s authors found that either approach could result in consistent throwing.
