When darnkess falls, we contend with the world around us with only a fraction of the sensory information we receive during the day. Our hearing scans our surroundings in an effort to detect even the faintest sound. Textures become enormously important as we try to understand what we’re touching. Without being able to rely on our sense of sight, we need every clue we can get to identify an object.
