RECORD HOLDERS
Sauropods include the largest animals to ever have lived on land. While the genus Diplodocus comes close to holding the record for the longest skeleton, recent research has shown that Argentinosaurus huinculensis, with an estimated length of 115 to 120 feet, was likely even longer. However the available fossil material does not include a complete skeleton. A. huinculensis belonged to the Titanosaur group, the dominant type of sauropod during the Cretaceous Period.
