The more difficult a game is, the harder the brain has to work and the greater the benefit. But as with most things, moderation is important. Much the same as with physical exercise, regular practice is more effective than sporadic or excessive gaming sessions. And: While video games can improve specific areas of performanc­e, if you do nothing else, your other abilities may decline.
