The 2018 figure may seem fairly small, given the fact that Uber riders took more than 3 million trips per day that year. But it only includes those crashes that occurred while a driver was carrying a passenger. Empty runs were not registered.

3,045 SEXUAL ASSAULTS

The number is frighteningly high, but most reports involved unwanted kissing or groping. Drivers reported assaults at almost the same rate as riders.

235 RAPES

This is the figure published in Uber’s 2019 report. The true number may be considerably higher: Sexual crimes of all kinds often go unreported.

The report recorded deaths of both riders and drivers as well as those of third parties.
