GOOD TO THE LAST BITE

Hawksbills have a narrow head and beak-shaped jaws that help them obtain food from coral reefs. In addition to squid they also eat sponges, anemones, and shrimp. But as they age hawksbills in the Caribbean develop a preference for sponges, consuming about 1,200 pounds of the soft invertebra­te creatures per year.
