GREAT RESEARCH

-

I’ve been an avid reader of id magazine for about six years now and I’m happy every two months when the new issue shows up at my door. I hadn’t written in before but now I feel compelled to reach out and let you know: The article “The Incredible Self-healing Power of Our Earth” in the September issue is in my opinion the most successful in recent years. The level of background research and the information this story contains are impressive. I hope more articles in this category will follow, because this one reflects well on the magazine’s overall quality. Patrick Goschl, Vienna, WV

Thank you for the positive feedback, which motivates us to continue reporting on topics that are as exciting, informative, and fascinating as possible in the future. This topic was also a most heartening one for us to explore, in that we can offer some good news in a typically bleak area. However as the article states, nature’s power of regeneration can only take over when the damage from human interference ceases, and that aspect will merit a good deal of attention going forward. the comparison is their reliable interval emission of radiation— they exhibit regularly occurring pulsation just like the modern lighthouses that flash on and off to conserve energy, rather than the towers of old that had always-on beams of light. This particular theme might best be described as “lighting the way,” and in the context of the article on Earth’s self-healing power, one could say the way that’s being lit is the path to a more prudent approach to our collective stewardship of the planet.
