Alejandro M. Maeda “Alex”, 61, of Calexico, CA, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016, of complicati­ons of liver cancer at UCSD surrounded by his children and wife.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Frye Chapel in Brawley. The funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Calexico at 10 a.m. Bishop Rogelio Rubio of The LDS Church will be officiatin­g. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Alejandro was born in Mexico D.F. on August 11, 1955. He graduated from Calexico High in 1974 and continued on to Imperial Valley College then to Butte College for his police academy.

Alejandro was a fireman with the Calexico Fire Department and then became a police officer for Calexico Police Department and retired as a Police Sergeant. He owned The Maeda Insurance Agency where he was an insurance agent with Horace Mann Insurance for the last 27 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchild­ren, going on motorcycle rides, going to the movies and traveling.

He was actively involved in the Blue Knights, California X and El Cajon HOG Motorcycle Clubs.

Alejandro is survived by his wife of 39 years Josie; children, Yasue, Kunie and Alex Jr., their spouses Ernie, Arturo and Claudia; grandchild­ren, Keiko, Anthony, Eddie, Koemi, Sayuri and baby Maeda on the way; his Maeda brothers and sister, Navarro brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

Alejandro was preceded in death by his father Alejandro; mother, Fabiola and sister Yasue.

Flowers are welcomed but also, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to “The Alejandro Maeda Memorial Fund”, you may contact Alejandro’s children for this informatio­n.
