Domingo married his beautiful wife Josie, on August 29, 1939. Domingo “Mingo” then came to the US in 1944 with his wife Josie and two daughters Felipa and Manuela and knew this was the place where he would plant his roots and watch them grow. He lived in Texas for several years before making his way to Brawley, CA where he worked for Western Auto for 15 years. He retired in 1987, enjoying his retirement by spending time with his family. Domingo loved to go fishing and enjoyed teaching his daughters and grandchildren how to play cards. In his later years he enjoyed playing loteria with his daughters in the morning while having his cafécito and pan dulce. He was an avid casino goer and was always ready to go to any casino within an hour’s drive.

Domingo was very proud of his family, but especially proud of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren. Domingo loved counting his grandchildren and knowing that his family was growing in size.

Domingo was preceded in death by his daughter Lupita Zavala; granddaughter Rachel Ramirez; and grandson-in-law Jorge Ruvalcaba. He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Josie Torres; daughters Neri Contreras and son-in-law Isidro Contreras, Manuela Reyna and son-in-law Ray Reyna, Esperanza Torres, Dominga Torres, Juanita Ornelas and son— in-law Carlos Ornelas, Oralia Navarro and Elizabeth Martinez; sons Ricardo Torres and daughter-in-law Maria Torres, and Jaime Torres; 19 grandchildren, 55+ great-grandchildren and 29+ great-great-grandchildren.

Domingo was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather a.k.a. “Huelo” and father-in-law. He will be truly missed, but his legacy of grandchildren will live on.

Services for Mingo will be held on Sunday, March 26th at Frye Chapel in Brawley beginning at 6 p.m. for viewing and rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be held on Monday, March 27th at St. Margaret Mary Church at 9 a.m. and burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, final resting place.
