DUI-suspected collision leaves five injured.

A 50-year-old El Centro resident was arrested Thursday for suspicion of DUI following a two-vehicle collision near Dogwood and South Harris roads that left him and four passengers in a second vehicle hospitalized, a California Highway Patrol accident report stated.

Andrew McGee is alleged to have lost control of his vehicle and caused a head-on collision with a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old Brawley woman, leaving her and three juvenile passengers injured, the CHP reported.

McGee sustained major head trauma while the driver of the second vehicle, Priscilla Prado, sustained major blunt force trauma to the body.

Prado had four juvenile passengers in the vehicle, including a 17-year-old San Diego resident who sustained moderate pain to the body, a 13-year-old Brawley resident with lacerations and cuts to the face along with body pain, a 12-year-old Brawley resident with lacerations and cuts to the face with body pain and a 12-year-old Brawley resident who had lost consciousness and reported pain in the body.

McGee was arrested at the scene, with DUI being a suspected factor in the collision, stated the accident report.

All involved parties were reportedly transported to different hospitals, with two of the juveniles being airlifted to a children’s hospital.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., McGee was driving northbound on Dogwood Road and South Harris Road without a seat belt at a stated 50 miles per hour.

Prado was driving southbound at the same location at an undetermined speed.

As the two vehicles approached each other, McGee lost control of his vehicle, a 2003 Ford F-150 truck, and went onto the east dirt shoulder. McGee’s vehicle then spun in a counter clockwise manner across the lanes directly into the path of Prado’s vehicle, a 2012 Dodge sedan.

McGee’s vehicle continued out of control and Prado was unable to take evasive action in time. The front of McGee’s vehicle struck the left front of Prado’s vehicle, causing both vehicles to overturn, the CHP reported.

Prado’s sedan traveled off the roadway and landed on its roof with all occupants still inside.

As his vehicle overturned onto its right side, McGee was ejected from his seated position, became airborne for a distance and struck the ground in the middle of the road.
