People freeze the heat away at Central Baptist

In hopes to drop the three digit temperatures, the Central Baptist Church hosted their annual Ice Cream Social.

Members of this church got together to host a potluck style ice cream social and they competed to see who had the best ice cream.

“Every year our church puts on a potluck-style Ice Cream Social and this year it is also a back to school church event complete with hamburgers, hot dogs and a water slide all for the community,” said Julie Singh. “Members participate in a Freeze Off by bringing homemade ice cream and attendees get to vote for a winner.”

This event provides opportunities for the community to get together and create bonds that lead to great memories.

“Getting together with the people of this church is something I enjoy,” said Carissa Mickey. “I also entered in the freeze off competition. To me this event is a time for us to get together and live together.”

This was a local event where members were encouraged to bring their family and friends.

“This is a free event for our church members and we encourage them to invite their friends and family,” said Singh. “Church members volunteer and bring ice cream of their choice. Our church provides all the toppings and syrups.”

The church is open to the public and they want to encourage and promote fellowship.

“We are a friendly church that encourages fellowship among one another. Throughout the year we host different kinds of events like cowboy Sunday, harvest festival, and Easter egg hunt outreach,” Singh said.

The freeze off competition concluded with pralines and cream as the winning flavor.

“I was looking for something different than the standard ice cream,” said Lisa Gallinat, the event’s winner. “I made homemade praline, caramel, and vanilla. I spent around $15 on ingredients. It took me around two and a half hours.”
