David Ceron 39, Calexico

David Ceron, 39, passed away on Thanksgivi­ng Day, November 23, 2017 at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA surrounded by family and loved ones.

He was born on July 28, 1978 in El Centro, CA to his loving parents Jose Francisco and Maria Socorro Ceron. David grew up in Calexico, CA, where he graduated from Calexico High School with the class of ‘96. He attended the University of California at Riverside where he received a bachelor of arts in Mathematic­s. David married the love of his life Luz D. Ceron in 2003 at New Life Assembly church in Calexico. David and Luz purchased a home in Sam Ellis St. in the west part of town where they enjoyed a happy and loving marriage. David taught math at De Anza Jr. High before choosing to pursue a career in law enforcemen­t. After graduating from the Federal Law Enforcemen­t Training Center in Brunswick, Georgia, David began work for the Department of Homeland Security joining the ranks of the Customs And Border Protection as an officer at the Calexico new port of entry, where he proudly served for over 8 years.

David was a member and worship leader at both New Life Assembly and Amistad Familiar where he applied his many musical talents in joyful support of his faith. He enjoyed playing music, traveling, teaching and mentoring, and spending time with family and friends, usually with a good barbecue by the pool.

David is survived by his wife Luz, his mother Socorro and his brother Daniel, as well as a large extended family that loved him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m., at New Life Assembly church, 1720 Imperial Ave, Calexico. A memorial worship service will be held at New Life Assembly church at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.
