KROP 1300 AM is off air

BRAWLEY — The second-longest running radio station in the Imperial Valley has gone off the air.

KROP 1300 AM here went off the air last week as confirmed by Chris Goodspeed, who is associated with the radio station.

Goodspeed confirmed the station has been off the air since last week and referred the Imperial Valley Press to the station’s owners, Larry and Theresa Allen, for further questions.

Neither immediatel­y returned attempts to seek more informatio­n on the status of the radio station.

Lardog Communicat­ions LLC. is the parent company of KROP. The main phone numbers for both Lardog and KROP have been disconnect­ed.

KROP was the Imperial Valley’s only talk-radio station along with country music.

According to previous reports by the Imperial Valley Press, the station first went on the air in November 1946.

Throughout the years it changed from music station to news/talk, to sports and recently to talk radio after it was purchased by LarDog in 2010.

The radio station was off the air for four months in 2010 as the sale was finalized between LarDog and Cherry Creek Radio.

KROP has 1 year from the date it went off to resume operation otherwise Lardog is at risk of losing its broadcast license according to informatio­n on the Federal Communicat­ions Commission website.
