Party members protest at Mexican agency
Members of the National Action Party held a demonstration Saturday morning at the local Mexican Attorney General’s office to demand the federal government stop investigating their presidential candidate and interfering in Mexico’s Elections.
Protesters of the conservative party were lead by Mexicali Chair Javier Gutiérrez Vidal.
The Attorney General opened an investigation into presidential candidate Ricardo Anaya for money laundering involving a property in his home state of Queretaro years ago. He is believed to have made $54 million from the transaction.
Party leaders consider the government’s actions a way to tarnish their candidate’s image and to take him down from second place in polls.
