Mexicali student found dead
A student from Mexicali was found dead along with two other college students in Tonalá, Jalisco, Mexico.
The Attorney General’s office of the state of Jalisco confirmed the finding of Javier Salomón Aceves Gastélum, of Mexicali, Jesús Daniel Díaz García, of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, and Marco Francisco García, of Tepic, Nayarit.
The three were film students in Guadalajara, Mexico, authorities said.
The students were kidnapped March 19 while filming in a house named La Cabaña, which was controlled by members of a criminal group rival to the Cartel Jalisco New Generation.
The students were transported to a ranch called Pinar de las Palomas where Gastélum was tortured to obtain information about Diego Daniel Mejía, who was apprehended three years ago in possession of firearms, the agency said.
The bodies were transported to another ranch where the victims were allegedly dissolved in acid, Attorney General Raúl Sánchez said.
Authorities said two individuals were arrested for the murders.
The suspects have been identified as Omar “Doe” and Gustavo “Doe.”
The Jalisco government offered a reward of 1 million pesos or $57,142 for information to locate the students.
The 25-year-old Mexicali student moved a year ago to Guadalajara to study film.
