Delfina (Pina) Escalera began her new life with the Lord on April 18, 2018.

Pina was born on August 26, 1925 in Sanger, California. She married the love of her life Jesus “Chuy” Escalera on June 25, 1944 in Yuma, Arizona.

Pina lived a long, fulfilled life that will always be remembered and cherished by all of her family and friends. Pina was an amazing and wonderful sister, wife, mother and grandmothe­r who was fortunate enough to be around three generation­s of grandchild­ren.

Everyone loved to gather at Gramma Pina’s house for any occasion big or small. From her homemade beans that were always on the stove, to her hand- knitted beanies, blankets and booties. Gramma Pina left everyone with something to remember her by.

Pina was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Escalera; son, Peter Escalera; grandson, Ralphie Fernandez and great-grandson, Justin Saucedo as well as two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Martha (Pifas) Cordova of Brawley, Stella (Agustine) Medina of Los Angeles, Jessie Guillen of Brawley; son, Victor Escalera of Brawley; 14 grandchild­ren; 19 great-grandchild­ren and 7 great-great-grandchild­ren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Contreras; sister- in- law, Elvira Rios, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley from 9 to 10 a.m. Rosary will be held at 10 a.m. Mass will follow at 12 p.m. and will be Officiated by Father Alex Aquino. Burial will follow mass at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
