Four children displaced after meth found in home
Four children were displaced and three adults were arrested after Imperial County Narcotics Task Force special agents responded Thursday night to an apartment at the Manzanilla Terrace Complex, 1586 I St.
Agents were conducting a probation compliance check on a male resident at the apartment. The man, 29-yearold Michael Arostigui, was arrested for an outstanding felony bench warrant. During their check, agents also found Alejandro Alvarez, 23, Jessica Alvarez, 24, and their four children residing in the apartment.
Agents later discovered a total of 31.8 grams of heroin along with several items, including a digital scale and drug packaging, in the apartment and placed Alejandro and Jessica under arrest.
The children were removed from the residence by Child Protective Services and placed at a local receiving home, task force Cmdr. Mike Loyd said.
Alejandro Alvarez, Jessica Alvarez and Arostigui were each taken into custody between 7 p.m. Thursday and 8:10 p.m. Thursday at the apartment. All three subjects were listed as Brawley residents.
Alejandro Alvarez was booked into county jail on suspicion of possessing or purchasing a controlled substance for sale, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, child endangerment, conspiracy to commit a crime and violation of probation, county Sheriff’s Office arrest records stated.
Jessica Alvarez was booked into county jail on suspicion of child endangerment, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, possessing or purchasing a controlled substance for sale and conspiracy to commit a crime, arrest records stated.
Arostigui booked into county jail on no bail for the felony bench warrant, which was issued for violation of probation.
