James (Jim) Murray Mahan, born on August 22, 1922 in Cottage Grove, Tennessee, to the late Mary Edith Mahan and the late Patterson Waterfield Mahan, passed away at age 95 on May 10, 2018 in San Diego, California.

James served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946 in World War II and he also worked in the Power industry as a serviceman at Imperial Irrigation District for 42 years, until he retired in 1990. James was the loving husband of the late Bobbie Robbins Mahan.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Robbins Dale and brother, Howard Harbor Mahan.

James is survived by his daughters, Dian (John) Self, Nancy (Terry) Taylor, and Judy (Roger) Oswalt; grandchild­ren, Jon (Dina) Self, Alan (Suzy) Self, Vance (Tania) Taylor, Tara (Jason) Simms, Paul Lani Oswalt, and Tiffany (KJ) Hoskins; 14 great-grandchild­ren, and

2 great-great-grandchild­ren.

He was a member of Church of Christ on Eight and Heil in El Centro. Friends and family can pay their respects at the funeral service, officiated by James Mordah, on Tuesday, May 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hems Brothers Chapel in El Centro The burial will take place on Wednesday, May 30 at 9 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 201 East Gillett Street, California, The funeral home will be Hems Brothers Mortuary, 1975 South Fourth Street, El Centro, (760) 352-5661.
