Criminal reform bill enacted

A bill that will increase penalties against those who commit extortion crimes was enacted Monday by Baja California Governor Francisco Vega.

The bill increases prison penalties from between six and 10 years to between seven and 12 years in prison.

Secretary of Government Francisco Rueda said the bill was previously approved by the Assembly in March.

The Secretary said the bill changes Article 224 of the state penal code.
