Born and raised in Brawley, CA, Vincent lived most of his life in his hometown. In 2011, Vincent and Vera moved to Phoenix, AZ. Vincent served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. He was promoted to Sergeant, awarded the Purple Heart and honorably discharged in 1975. He attended I.V.C. and the University of Utah majoring in the Agricultur­al Sciences. Vincent worked for the Imperial Irrigation District as a Zanjero for 30 years, then retired in 2003. He served as Spanish Branch President for over 3 years in the Mormon Church. He loved spending time with his grandchild­ren. His family will miss his smile, laughter, wisdom, big hugs, and most of all his love.

Vincent was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Josephine Solarez and his father, Abraham Tapia.

Survivors include his loving wife, Elvira of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Mary Frances of Phoenix, AZ; son, Vincent Jr. and daughter-in-law, Gloria both from El Centro, CA, and daughter, Christine of Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Thomas Contreras, Abraham Tapia, Marcus Tapia, and Joseph Tapia; sisters, Connie Chavez, Maggie Valenzuela, Betty Morgan, and Lina Robles; granddaugh­ter, Annisa; grandsons, Mario, Vincent III, Samuel, Diego, and Ethan; great-granddaugh­er, Penelope; family daughters, Diana Alma and Maria Valenzuela.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 28th at 8 a.m. at the Mormon Church in Brawley. Burial will be held at 9 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
