Beer fest announced
City officials and businessmen announced the Baja Beer Fest will take place Saturday close to downtown.
The event will include 43 craft beer companies as well as food, barbecue experts, sale of organic and local products, and live entertainment.
The festival takes place from 5 p.m. until 1 a.m. at Alvaro Obregón Avenue, between E and Lerdo Streets, said Mexicali Beer Association President Pedro Lara.
Tickets cost 150 pesos, or $8, and are available at local beer companies.
Tourism and Conventions Committee Chairman Jaime Roberts said the city has been recognized as one of the craft-beer-producing pioneers. Local companies have received awards at the national and international levels, he added.
Mexico’s craft beer industry has reported an annual growth of 50 percent this year and is expected to double its growth for 2019, with Baja California one of the best producers nationally, according to Roberts.
