Gerardo Gaeta Flores, 92, of Brawley passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018.

He was born on October 3, 1926 in Temastian, Jalisco, Mexico and later married to Guadalupe Grano Flores on April 25, 1951.

Gerardo was a charro in his younger years. He traveled to the United States as a bracero. Later he moved his family to Calipatria then Brawley working in agricultur­e as a tractor driver and other farm machinery for Tony Delfino, John Benson Farms, and Bob Meyer Farms. Gerardo took his family during the summers to work in various crops in Bakersfiel­d, Fresno, Gilroy, and Morgan Hill. Gerardo was a hardworkin­g, loyal, and faithful man. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and St. Margaret Mary Church. He enjoyed helping the fathers and helped clean and maintain the churches and the grounds. He was a devout Catholic, loyal to God, Senor de los Rayos, and the Virgin de Guadalupe. He served as a Guadalupan­o and was a member of the Cursillos. He cared for and provided for his family, and taught about his values, morals, and life lessons. He especially loved seeing his grandchild­ren who loved their Tata very much. His wisdom, love, generosity and handiness will carry on in the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of those that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Flores; Son in Law, Frank Durazo; Grandsons, Gabriel Durazo, Anthony Garcia; Brother, Juan Flores; Parents, Maximilian­o Flores and Inocencia Gaeta Flores.

Gerardo is survived by Brother, Jose Rosa Flores, Temastian Jalisco, Mexico Sister, Margarita Gutierrez, Rosemead, CA., Sister, Gregoria Perez, Rosemead, CA., Son, Ted Flores, Brawley, Daughter, Maria (Enrique) Sanchez, San Diego, CA., Daughter, Bacilisa (Nacho) Cabrera, San Diego, CA., Daughter, Candy (Frank) Durazo, Vista, CA., Daughter, Lupe (Rusty) Garcia, Brawley, Son, Joe (Mary Ann) Flores, Brawley, Daughter, Tammy (John) Britt, San Diego, CA., Son, Nick (Rocio) Flores, La Habra, CA., Son, Luis (Marivic) Flores, San Diego, CA., Daughter, Alicia Flores, Brawley and Numerous, grandchild­ren, great- grandchild­ren, great-great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Frye Chapel Mortuary in Brawley from 6 9 p.m. with Rosary being said at 7 p.m. Service will be officiated by Father Andrew on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 9 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
