All-IVL Volleyball teams revealed
The 2018 Imperial Valley League volleyball season was an exciting affair, chock full of highlights, stemming from tense matches and superlative play.
It produced two worthy league champions in Brawley and Southwest, and plenty of strong individual performances.
Volleyball is a very team-oriented sport, so it can be difficult, for the untrained eye, to precisely assess which individual performances constitute the cream of the crop.
Thankfully there were always plenty of experts on the scene and they — which is to say the IVL coaches — were able to sort the best of the best into two All-League teams following the conclusion of the regular season.
In addition to All-League honors, which were divvyed up via nomination and voting, the coaches selected a player and coach of the year.
Brawley libero Jennah Rodriguez picked up Player of the Year.
The Wildcat senior was a constant steadying presence on the BUHS backline, digging her team out of plenty of jams.Coaching accolades went to Southwest’s Lisa Hinshaw, who piloted her squad to a share of the IVL title and the Eagles’ best record since 2012.
