Mexicali teachers died in accident
Two Mexicali teachers died and three others were injured after a vehicle accident reported Thursday morning at the Tijuana Highway.
México’s Federal Highway Police Department said the incident occurred at 6:56 a.m. at Colonia Luis Echeverría Alvarez neighborhood at El Hongo in the municipality of Tecate.
At the scene, authorities found a gray vehicle that was turned over.
According to authorities, 12 teachers and the driver were inside the vehicle.
The teachers were on their way to Tecate schools, the state said.
In a press release, the State Education System said one of the injured teachers is eight months pregnant.
The fatal victims were identified as Brandy Sharisse Acosta and Mariana Lucía Herrera Lozano.
Three of the teachers and the driver were transported to Tecate’s General Hospital, while four other teachers were transported to a federally owned hospital in Tijuana.
