Mex­i­cali teach­ers died in ac­ci­dent

Two Mex­i­cali teach­ers died and three oth­ers were in­jured af­ter a ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent re­ported Thurs­day morn­ing at the Ti­juana High­way.

Méx­ico’s Fed­eral High­way Po­lice De­part­ment said the in­ci­dent oc­curred at 6:56 a.m. at Colo­nia Luis Echev­er­ría Al­varez neigh­bor­hood at El Hongo in the mu­nic­i­pal­ity of Te­cate.

At the scene, au­thor­i­ties found a gray ve­hi­cle that was turned over.

Ac­cord­ing to au­thor­i­ties, 12 teach­ers and the driver were in­side the ve­hi­cle.

The teach­ers were on their way to Te­cate schools, the state said.

In a press re­lease, the State Ed­u­ca­tion Sys­tem said one of the in­jured teach­ers is eight months preg­nant.

The fa­tal vic­tims were iden­ti­fied as Brandy Sharisse Acosta and Mar­i­ana Lucía Her­rera Lozano.

Three of the teach­ers and the driver were trans­ported to Te­cate’s Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal, while four other teach­ers were trans­ported to a fed­er­ally owned hos­pi­tal in Ti­juana.
